COMMUNITY SPACE FAQ's
Can we bring in a vehicle for display?
Normally, yes. However, during Kingsway’s two-year redevelopment (scheduled to be completed Fall, 2009), vehicles or other heavy equipment cannot be brought into the centre.
Following our redevelopment, if common area space allows, you can bring in a vehicle for display. You must bring in the vehicle to your area prior to the mall opening and must comply with the Fire Regulations (gas cap must be locked; vehicle must have less than a gallon of fuel; battery must be disconnected). It is your responsibility to provide pads/carpet for all tires and drip pan to avoid oil leaks from the vehicle.
Can our charity group book a common area for a couple hours only?
No. Staff or volunteers from your organization must be at the kiosk from mall opening to closing. (Our centre hours can be found on Kingsway’s home page). Additionally, no set-up or take-down is allowed during mall hours for liability reasons. Your kiosk must be set up prior to mall opening with take down taking place only after mall closing.
What does the kiosk include?
Kingsway provides you with a 10 foot X 10 foot space to work within. (Additional space is allowed for vehicles when allowed). Typically, we provide your organization with 1 table and 2 chairs, while the rest is up to your organization. We highly recommend your space to look professional, creative and inviting. We always suggest your organization use a back-drop to grab the shopper’s attention.
Do you have an electrical outlet?
Yes, we do offer electrical outlet, but no data or cable line is available. Please let us know if you require an electrical outlet when booking.
Can we solicit?
No. Shoppers come to Kingsway for a positive and relaxing shopping experience. To that end, here are some things you (or any of our retailers) should know:
-
Do not go business to business promoting your kiosk, lottery, organization, etc.
-
Do not step outside of your kiosk area to talk to customers or hand out flyers.
-
Do not aggressively talk to shoppers as they walk by your kiosk (although you may give a friendly salutation).
Why do Kingsway only allow organizations to use the common area for one week each year?
We try to accommodate as many different organizations as we possibly can. You can imagine the number of requests we receive each year for free space. Therefore, to accommodate more groups, we now have a limit for each organization of seven (7) days per year. Please note that we do not offer community kiosk space in November or December.
Does our organization require insurance?
Yes. Upon approval of your application, we will require Insurance Certificate for Liability coverage. Additionally, we must be named as additional insured with very specific wording included on your certificate (see below). Insurance policy must have inclusive limits of not less than $5 million dollars unless otherwise outlines in your lease agreement.

Where is the community kiosk space located?
Typically, the space we provide is located between Ben Moss and Mappin’s Jewellers, on the lower level, by Sears. However, during our redevelopment, the kiosk location may change to accommodate our construction team. The space we will provide your organization will be clearly outlined at the time of final booking.
Who is in charge of alerting the media about our activities while at Kingsway?
The news release or PSA should come from your organization, on your letterhead. We can provide an up-to-date list of all media, if requested. Kingsway kindly asks for a list of any media exposure your organization received, post event.
Do we need to report our sales, while at the centre, assuming our organization will be doing a fundraising activity?
Yes, we like to know how well your organization did in terms of money raised, while at Kingsway vs. your goal. This helps us determine our program's overall success and provide us with a solid number to use when speaking to Kingsway's positive impact on the community.
